- Attachment to the house. The wall or roof must carry the load, and the joint needs flashing.
- Boundaries. Building lines and neighbours' consent may apply close to a boundary.
- Drainage. Where the roof water goes, and that it does not flood a neighbour or the garage.
- Engineering. Long spans, tall posts and cantilevers need engineer-designed sections and footings.
- Approval. Larger or unusual carports are less likely to qualify as minor building work.

Yes. Posts are cut to different lengths and the roof can follow the slope or stay level. The installer must plan drainage and footings for the slope.
How high should a caravan carport be?
Measure the caravan including roof fittings, then add a margin to the lowest beam. Caravan carports are usually much taller than car carports.
